So sometimes when I feel like utter shit I do this thing where I go to bingewatch a show that I think will be garbage in order to feel like garbage both inside and out. I have no idea why I do it, maybe I feel like I don’t deserve to watch something good? I dunno, it’s some weird bullshit with my mind but it helps me cleanse myself somehow, fuck if I know.

Anyway, I was feeling like garbage and was sitting in a Blazblue Cross Tag Battle thread and decided to just bingewatch RWBY due to the people that were dumping on it. I figured it’d fill that role nicely and I’d get to wade in some next-level shit.

Turns out that I really, really liked it.

Yeah, its pretty janky early on. The voices take getting some used to and the animations are weird, but god fucking damn if it isn’t a solid shonen anime. I ended up loving all of the characters, the setting, the music, the totally edgy and over the top weapons, just everything. There’s definitely some cringe when you start, though, since it feels like the team doesn’t know what they want out of the show yet, but once they find that groove, holy shit. It just steadily improves and doesn’t stop. 

But yeah. I love Nora. And Penny. And Pyrrha. And Neo. And Ruby. And everyone really. Even Weiss. My only complaint with the show is that Ozpin is 110% responsible for everything that happens at Beacon in S3. Like full-stop due to his hesitation and inaction. I know they wanted to make him cautious, but he just comes off as indecisive and blind to everything around him. He lets Atlas just walk all over Beacon with giant armies and doesn’t really say much of anything and Cinder is able to pull off anything and everything she wants to do with minimal resistance. I really liked that the RWBY chibi shorts made fun of him not knowing about the blatant villains right under his noses.

So, yeah, I guess it was coincidental. I mean I wasn’t before, but now I’m totally excited for Season 5. The last time I bingewatched a show due to wanting to punish myself and ended up liking it entirely was MLP.

I tried it for a bit, but got ultimately bored with it. I didn’t like the card battle system all that much. Gacha games have never seemed to be able to hold my attention for very long.

I tried. I was really hype for it, but in the end it just fell flat for me in a lot of the ways that a bunch of A-1 Pictures stuff does. The animation just didn’t work very well and the sound design was trying its best to blow out my speakers.

Seriously any time that anyone did something action-y it felt like one of those BASS BOOSTED meme things.
